Project by Marsha Ismail
Presented with synthetic biological technologies in a post automated world, the future taxidermist is lodged between the euphoria of being his own maker and the anxiety of being reduced to a network of physiochemical process waiting to be optimised. The architecture attempts to harness the potential of biotechnology to create an olfactory capsule of an emotionally charged moment.
He has created a living object where human sweat is harvested for synthetic mechanical plant consumption.
A speculative biofiction project, the Death Academy is part hospice and part memorial in which its architecture immerses the body by being an extension of it through machinic interventions.
